The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a once-in-a-generation undertaking. With a focus on honouring the region’s rich history and culture, championing a greener future and providing improvements to the Windsor-Detroit corridor, the new bridge will open new doors to trade, travel and tourism and forever change the landscape of the area.
This project wouldn’t be possible without the workers who don their hard hats every day and build every feature of the four project components including the bridge deck over the Detroit River, the buildings and structures at the Canadian and US Ports of Entry and complete the road work involved in the Michigan Interchange.

To mark “2000 Days of Construction”, community members of all ages are invited to participate in a hard hat sticker design contest. Participants are being asked to design a hard hat sticker in support of the dedicated men and women working tirelessly to deliver the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. Just as a passport stamp is proof of places visited, hard hat stickers represent projects and construction sites worked at. This is your chance to show appreciation for the tens of thousands of workers making this legacy project a reality. Let’s decorate those hard hats Gordie Howe style.

We invite you to develop an image that celebrates all things construction and honours the people working across all four project component sites Inspiration can be drawn from a variety of project initiatives such as tower construction to completion, ramp construction on the I-75, the innovative bridge design and the incredible people who work tirelessly to make it all happen. Make sure to visit the Info Centre section of the project website to get some ideas. We have also provided some inspirational ideas below.

Send us an original drawing or painting honouring the workers of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.

Three designs will be chosen and turned into hard hat stickers to be proudly displayed on the hard hats of Gordie Howe International Bridge project construction workers and tradespeople.

All participants will receive copies of the winning hard hat stickers and the three winners will win a prize.
