Thank you for agreeing to share your opinion about Alabama's newspapers!

You are being asked to take part in a research study conducted by researchers at the University of Alabama. This study seeks to examine how readers connect with Alabama’s newspapers and the information they would like to see delivered by these papers in a changing media environment.

In this survey, which will take about 5 minutes to complete, you will answer questions about how you get news, tell us what you would like to see in online/mobile delivery of news and provide some basic information about your background.

You are being asked to participate because you are a news consumer who gets information, at least periodically, from one of Alabama’s newspapers. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. You can choose not to participate or you may stop at any time. Your answers will be completely anonymous. We are not collecting any personal information that can be used to identify you. Your individual data will be combined with that of other newspaper readers, and only aggregate data will be shared with the state’s newspapers or in any published reports.

You will not receive any direct benefits from participating in this study, nor are there any risks involved in your participation. However, we hope your answers will help the state’s newspapers as they seek to better serve the public in a changing media environment. If you have any questions about the study before you participate or later on, please contact investigator Jennifer Greer at or (205) 348-6304. If you have questions or complaints about your rights as a research participant, call Ms. Tanta Myles, the Research Compliance Officer of the University at 205-348-8461.
