2023 SURVEY OF MASSACHUSETTS
AAPI-OWNED BUSINESSES

The Asian Business Empowerment Council (“ABEC”) is conducting this survey of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (“AAPI”) - owned businesses in Massachusetts. For purposes of this survey, “AAPI-owned business” means a business that is at least 51% owned by an individual who identifies as Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.

Although there is no direct benefit for participating in this survey, those businesses responding to this survey will help ABEC to:

1. Develop a profile of Massachusetts' AAPI-owned businesses across diverse ethnic backgrounds, industries and geographic regions of Massachusetts.

2. Report key findings about barriers and opportunities for AAPI-owned businesses and recommendations and strategies for addressing them.

The survey will remain open until 11:59 pm on December 11, 2023.

Any personally identifying information, such as individual and business names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, will be separated from the answers to the survey questions and stored in a password-protected file and only accessible to select members of the ABEC team. Responses to survey questions will not be analyzed, published, or presented in a way that would allow anyone else to identify you or the individual business(s) or business owners. ABEC will take all reasonable measures to protect your information.

The survey generally takes between 15-20 minutes to complete. Please note, your answers are not automatically saved. Answers on each page are only saved and recorded once you have hit the "NEXT" button at the bottom of each page. Once you have answered the survey questions, please be sure to click on the “DONE” button to make sure that your answers are included in ABEC’s report. Once you have hit "DONE" at the end of the survey, you will not be able to change your answers.

Participation in this survey is completely voluntary and may be stopped at any time. If you wish to stop answering the survey questions, exit the survey at any time. If you wish to withdraw your information from the survey after you have submitted your answers, please contact Q.J. Shi at ABEC (qj.shi@tbf.org). 

ABEC is a part of the Asian Community Fund, a not-for-profit organization housed at The Boston Foundation. ABEC is not a government entity. The Institute for Asian American Studies at the University of Massachusetts (“IAAS”) and Boston Indicators will both be working with ABEC to review data collected from this survey but will not have access to the personally identifying information collected from the survey.
