Question Title

* 1. Which candidate BEST addressed the following question?

AMTA aims to move towards a more intentional focus on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across multiple areas of the organization and profession including academic standards, workforce development, clinical practice, governance, member communication, programming, professional networking, continuing education, and organizational decision-making. How might you begin to address these concerns on both micro and macro levels?

Suggested response content: In addition to referencing any related past experience in this area, please include ways you might begin the process of systemic transformation with a DEI lens.

Question Title

* 2. Which candidate BEST addressed the following question?

AMTA member cohorts who were interviewed as part of this search process unanimously indicated a need for more transparent communication between national and regional volunteer leaders, committees, and staff. Additionally, given the complex makeup of AMTA’s governance structure, and highly engaged and expressive volunteers, how might you approach increasing and expanding communication channels with a member-centered lens to facilitate co-constructive engagement and trust building among all constituents?

Suggested response content: In addition to referencing any related past experience in this area, you might ask questions and/ or offer suggestions around the type of communication channels that are currently or could be employed; potential impediments to fostering transparent communication; and possible solutions.

Question Title

* 3. Which candidate BEST addressed the following question?

There are currently 8713 MT-BCs (credentialed music therapists) in the US. Less than half are members of AMTA. Two primary factors have contributed to this gap: cost and perceived value of membership. As generally lower wage earners, MTs often struggle with their total professional costs including toward Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) and continuing education. In addition, many traditional AMTA offerings such as continuing education and networking can be gleaned through other channels

(eg. universities, unaffiliated social media channels and spin off groups). How might you begin to address the need to enhance AMTA’s unique member value proposition, while expanding non-dues revenue channels that offset the need for generating revenue primarily from members?

Suggested response content: In addition to referencing any related past experience in this area, you might ask questions around AMTA’s current value proposition based on your preliminary internet research; how you might engage the board in strategic planning in this area; and questions and/ or suggestions related to non-dues revenue opportunities.

Question Title

* 4. Which candidate BEST addressed the following question?

AMTA has a highly interdependent staff - many long-tenured – who are deeply committed to the success of their members. They are also open to fresh thinking around how best to engage with members and increase operational effectiveness. How might you foster an egalitarian, encouraging, “seek first to understand” approach to build on staff abilities and develop their expertise to facilitate a more efficient, effective and forward-thinking operational structure?

Suggested response content: In addition to referencing any related past experience in this area, you might elaborate on your change leadership style and philosophy around engaging staff through thoughtful transitions.
