BACKGROUND: The Meat House & Lockers building at 802 Yellowstone Avenue has been closed and deteriorating for many years. The City of Billings took ownership in 2024. A public meeting was held in February 2025 to discuss property disposition and community needs. An environmental study has been conducted, the property abated for asbestos and lead-based paint, and the building is scheduled for demolition in the summer or early fall of 2025.
ZONING: Property is currently zoned N1-First Neighborhood. The N1 district is intended to continue the existing character of single- and two-family homes in the first residential neighborhoods developed in the early part of the twentieth century in the city. These characteristics include parking/garages located in the rear of the lot, pitched roofs, and doors and windows on the front facades.
UNDER CONSIDERATION: The City of Billings is considering options for redevelopment of the property. We are seeking neighborhood and community input regarding community needs and desires for this property.
