Bergamo Montessori 2019 Summer Program Planning |
Robyn Grosjean, our Director for Summer Camp 2019, Heather Dority, parent of an Elementary child at BMS, and I, Gail, are beginning to put together a curriculum for Summer Camp 2019, and would value any input you could give us that would help us plan.
The overall idea is weekly themes that support learning about the human and natural history of our area, and how they’ve influenced our modern lives in Sacramento and in the Pocket.
Camp is planned for the period of Monday, June 10, through Friday, August 2, 2019. Dates are:
Week 1: June 10-14
Week 2: June 17-21
Week 3: June 24-29
Week 4: July 1-5 (no classes Thursday-Friday for the holiday)
Week 5: July 8-13
Week 6: July 15-19
Week 7: July 22-26
Week 8: July 29-August 2
A typical day, patterned upon the Elementary school day hours:
Start time: 7 am
Morning session: 9-12
Lunch time: 12-1
Afternoon session: 1-3
End time: 3
After care: 3-6
Traditionally we have 25-30 children enrolled at a maximum.
Another tradition has been one “swim day” per week, when all spent an hour or so at a neighborhood swim club.
While it is not a requirement of enrollment, we will need several parents to volunteer to drive and to chaperone on trips within our area. We plan to use some public transportation, too.
