Question Title

* 1. The Meridian School District is currently considering reducing the number of early release days in the annual school calendar for the 2017-2018 school year by eight (8) days. The reduction in the number of early release days would allow for the District to implement at 30 minute late start one morning each week (day of the week to be determined through this survey.)

The purpose of this proposed change is to provide District teachers and administrators with a weekly opportunity for collaborative planning, examination of student achievement data and professional training with the net result of improved student achievement.

The proposed change does not reduce or increase the total amount of time students are in school as the time is exchanged from the early release days to the weekly thirty minute late start.

The proposed start time (on the late start day) at each school would be:

·         MHS – 8:25

·         MMS – 8:40

·         IRE – 9:30

Bus pick-up times would be adjusted to 30 minutes later at each stop on the late start day.

School dismissal times would remain on the current schedule.

The other four days of the week would remain on the current schedule for start and dismissal times.

Question: Would you be supportive of this proposed change?
