Introduction

In March 2020, the FAA published a Request for Information (RFI) regarding low altitude manned aviator participation in UAS Remote Identification (RID). The RFI sought input from the piloted aircraft community regarding whether and/or how they can potentially receive and use UAS remote ID information to further enhance safety.

In October 2020, the FAA tasked the Drone Advisory Committee to further investigate how low-altitude aviators can use UAS remote ID to further enhance safety. The tasking group is using this survey to gather feedback from traditional, legacy, and onboard piloted low altitude operators on the utility of Remote ID information in the flight deck. We are investigating whether Remote ID information could inadvertently create in-flight safety and/or human factors issues.

If you submitted a response to the RFI based on the NPRM, has your opinion evolved since the Final Rule was released? In addition, please share any other concerns or thoughts.
