TAUMARUNUI-TE AWAMUTU OPTION
One way to reduce the cost of a new service could be to operate between Taumarunui and Te Awamutu rather than continuing directly to Hamilton. Passengers could connect at Te Awamutu with BUSIT Route 24, which travels between Kihikihi, Te Awamutu and Hamilton in both directions, seven days a week. While this would require passengers to transfer between buses and would make the overall journey longer it would help reduce funding requirements.

Any new service would need to charge passenger fares. Although public transport subsidies may be available, additional funding would most also be required from a targeted rate on properties in the Taumarunui area.
