Adding Spirits to Breweries Thank you for participating in the survey! Our goal at The Mallet Spirits (https://www.themallet.com/) is to understand how we can best help breweries who are interested in adding spirits to their tap room lineup. Whether your operation is large or small, looking to fire up a still, or just bring in and bottle sourced spirits, we can help. This survey is to help breweries ask the right questions and structure their approach to adding spirits to their tap room.Special Note for Florida Brewers, we can also help you prepare and source Florida Spirits in anticipation of the new requirement in 2026 (Effective July 1, 2026, a minimum of 60 percent of a craft distillery’s total finished branded products must be distilled in this state and contain one or more Florida agricultural products.)With our 20+ years in the beverage industry, we have a broad network to help source high quality aged whiskey barrels, spirits, compliance and software experts, equipment, and raw materials at the best possible prices, making the addition of spirits easy for brewers. Question Title * 1. What spirit types are you interested in offering in your tap room, either by the drink, by the cocktail, or by the bottle: Bourbon Rye Whiskey Single Malt Whiskey Vodka Gin Rum Ready to Drink (RTD) Cocktails in Bottles Ready to Drink (RTD) Cocktails in Cans Spirit-Based Seltzers Liqueurs/Moonshine Other spirit types: Question Title * 2. In terms of space available at your brewery, which of the following best describes your situation? We are absolutely packed to the gills. We would need to receive in just enough bottle-ready spirit and packaging materials to do a single bottling run. We are very full, but we could dedicate a small space for sourced spirits (barrels or totes) and a small inventory of materials like glass bottles. We can create a dedicated space for distillery equipment, materials, and barrels. Space is not a concern for us. We could accommodate whatever stills, bottling equipment, bulk spirits, or bulk materials needed for maximizing efficiency and reducing cost of goods. Question Title * 3. In terms of equipment needed to process spirits and to do a bottling run, which of these pieces of equipment would you need? (Select all that apply) A bottle filler capable of filling a glass 750ml bottle. A labeler capable of labeling a round 750ml bottle (versus labeling by hand). A pump and hoses capable of safely moving high proof spirits from a barrel or tote to the bottle filler. A way to empty an oak whiskey barrel and filter out char and sediment from the whiskey. Proofing/Density measuring device to confirm the spirits are the correct proof. An automatic corker (versus inserting corks by hand). A hand-held heater for sealing tamper evident shrink seals over the corks. Question Title * 4. In terms of adding distillation capacity, which best describes your goals? We aren’t interested in distilling, just processing and bottling sourced spirits. We have some interest in distilling in the short or long term, but we would like to start with sourced spirits for now. We would like to distill our own spirits (example, single malt made with our beer, or rum from local molasses), and we’d like to serve only the spirits that we make. Question Title * 5. In terms of selling spirits from your brewery, select all that you would like to offer: Sell spirits by the drink through tastings, flights, or cocktails in your tap room. Sell full bottles of spirits for consumption off-premise from our tap room. Distribute a spirit brand through a wholesaler. Selling bottles Direct To Consumer (DTC) via online ordering into states where allowed. Question Title * 6. In terms of branding, what option best describes your goals: We would like to use our Brewery Logo or one of our Beer Logos on a previously vetted label and package design so we are selling our branded goods. We would welcome licensing/contract bottling an existing spirits brand (such as the award winning “The Mallet” lineup) with the already vetted packaging and spirit suppliers. We would like to design a package from scratch using our name/logo or a new-to-world brand. Question Title * 7. In terms of the initial State and TTB Distillery licensing, which option best describes your organization? We could use help with getting the State and Federal DSP license, applying for the Label COLA, submitting the Transfer In Bond Application (TIB), and help with other state and TTB related compliance requirements. We may need some help with the distillery side of the State and TTB regulations and licensing, but we have a team who can do some of the heavy lifting. We have an in-house team and/or a 3rd party resource like a lawyer or compliance consultant that will help us with what we need. Question Title * 8. In terms of software for managing State and TTB reporting, distillery transactions/daily logs, on-hand inventory, state requirements and audits, etc., which option best describes your setup? We use a brewery software that does not offer Distillery tracking, and we’d be interested in learning about currently available distillery software options. We are interested in someone helping us build a simple, in-house system to help us track our distillery's State and TTB reporting (like Google Docs, or Excel) We have a software that can handle both brewery and distillery operations. Other software setup or needs: Question Title * 9.
