GBRIA is seeking registrations from members who would like to participate in the Summer 2024 Educator Externship Program.

Educator Externships allow you to host a teacher or career counselor, advancing their professional development, and connecting your industry knowledge to their classroom teaching. This gives students access to real-world knowledge about industry and the steps needed for students to join the workforce, and gives you access to help mold your future pipeline!

Educator Externs will spend 1 day of job shadowing at your site on Tuesday, June 25th. Teachers will spend the day before at ABC Pelican for orientation, including a tour of the campus. Host sites are expected to participate in Day 1 activities where educator externs will be introduced to their externship host contact(s).

Host sites are asked to host a minimum of 2 educators to participate in the program.

Cost to participate: $1,150.00 per educator hosted. The host site will provide the funds to GBRIA, which will pay each educator. The educator will receive $1,000.00 and the remaining funds will go towards program costs, e.g., program participant shirts, etc.

By participating, you will:
  • Help teachers and counselors build a strong and prepared workforce.
  • Build industry and company awareness.
  • Share your unique perspective with teachers.
  • Gain increased mindfulness of the local education landscape and pipeline.
  • Create an intentional and meaningful relationship with a local education institution.
