2025 Canadian Import Priorities for New Market Access |
CPMA is working with CFIA to survey our members for input on their priorities for opening new markets for the importation of new products into Canada.
Trying to bring a new product into Canada? Exploring new sources for your top commodities? This survey is your opportunity to help inform CFIA’s prioritization of Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) efforts for 2025.
CFIA has compiled a list of PRA requests received for fresh fruit and vegetable products from new countries of origin that have not yet been actioned. CPMA requests your input to establish a ranking of PRA priorities for 2025. Member input on this list will help CFIA better understand industry priorities for new import market access.

It is important to note that any commodities selected as top priorities will require that a prioritization questionnaire be completed and submitted to CFIA and the exporting country’s National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) must be willing to collaborate with CFIA during the PRA process. A review of the Preparedness Checklist on the CFIA website will provide an overview of the information that will be requested on the questionnaire.
Please note that prioritization questionnaires have already been received for some of the commodities listed below (as indicated).
The CPMA Plant Health Working Group (PHWG) will review all information received and create a PRA priority list for submission to the CFIA Plant Health and Biosecurity Directorate for consideration when initiating import market access work.
NOTE: Any specific information provided in this questionnaire will be kept confidential and will not be shared outside of CPMA. The results of the survey will be aggregated for review by the PHWG and submission to the CFIA.
Please submit your feedback by Friday, May 9th 2025.
