Please review biographies of the nominated representatives before selecting the most fitting candidates to represent the following Santa Monica aquatics programs: 
 
Sharks Swim Team Nominees:
 
  • Jillian Cipresso: Jillian is a dedicated member of our community whose daughter is actively engaged in the Sharks Swim Team. With a remarkable track record of over 20 years as a youth sports coach, Jillian brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, enhancing our understanding and commitment to youth programs.    
  • Tim Sweeney: Tim is currently a parent of a member on the Sharks swim team, and he actively participates in lap swimming at the Santa Monica Swim Center. Throughout his life, Tim has been an avid lap swimmer, enjoying the activity at various pools in NYC, London, and California.

Learn to Swim Program Nominees: 
  • Steve Rice: I am a parent of children who either attend classes regularly at the swim center or participate in the Sharks swim team. 
  • Yolanda Mickens:  Children are involved in community classes, the Shark swimming team, and community swim activities.

Lap/Recreational Swimming Nominees: 
  • Denise Bachman: Denise has been lap swimming at the Swim Center since 2010, swimming daily during the pandemic and experiencing different lane configurations. She chose to live in the Sunset Park area because of the positive reviews and amenities at the Santa Monica Swim Center. Denise believes her insights, both positive and constructive, make her a good fit for the committee. As a retiree and a student at SMC, she has the time and diverse perspective to contribute effectively. With a lifelong passion for lap swimming, including backstroke competition in her youth and lifeguard training, Denise brings valuable experience to the committee. 
  • Aned Muñiz: Aned, a previous parent involved in Learn to Swim and Sharks programs, is currently engaged in both recreational swim sessions with their children and solo lap swimming. Additionally, they actively participate in adult conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Aned's extensive aquatic background includes being part of local and college swim teams in Puerto Rico, serving as a former lifeguard and swim instructor in Puerto Rico and Europe, and coaching master's and recreational swim programs at the University of San Diego. Their multifaceted experience enriches their perspective on aquatics. 
  • Kevin Gorman: Kevin is an active member of the Santa Monica aquatics community who regularly engages in lap and recreational swimming, contributing to the vibrancy of our community pool. With a passion for aquatics and a desire to protect and improve this valuable community resource, Kevin is well-positioned to bring valuable insights to the Santa Monica Aquatics Advisory Committee.
