Each year, Metropolitan Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI) organizes a collaborative effort to survey the people experiencing homelessness in our community. The information gathered from the survey provides us with a "snapshot" of the individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the night of January 25, 2016.
There are two options for volunteers:
Volunteers for the unsheltered count will go out in teams with staff and trained peer interviewers to survey people in locations such as parks, riverbeds, parking lots and other places where we may find people who are not accessing shelter or services.
Volunteers for the sheltered count will survey at locations such as homeless shelters, food banks, human service offices and other indoor locations where people go to seek shelter or services.
