The average player loses about 315mL of sweat in 30-60 minutes of activity. Sweat losses can range from 500mls/hour to 3 litres per hour. There is a high correlation between self reporting sweat rate and actual sweat rate and sodium loss. While sodium losses during exercise may seem relatively minor, the consequences can actually be quite serious. In fact, low sodium levels -- when combined with low fluid levels -- can lead to a dangerous condition known as hyponatremia.
