ETOA believes that current regulation and enforcement practice affecting professionals supporting group tourism in Italy represents a barrier to market, suppressing competition and innovation, increasing cost, and causing consumer detriment.
This survey is designed to assess current market impact of the regulatory environment by requesting responses from operators hiring local guides and multi-day tour guides for services in Italy.
Note on definitions used in this survey:
1. 'Local guide' is used to mean professional service provided hired to deliver guided tours or excursions in destination lasting up to a day who hold a licence (patentino) that permits them to provide cultural commentary in public. It is synonymous with 'tourist guide'.
2. 'Tour guide' is used to mean professional service providers hired to accompany groups, typically for multiple days, providing services as required and expected by group and contracting operator from ensuring smooth-running of tour to client service and support. It is synonymous with 'tour director', 'tour leader', 'tour manager' and various similar terms.
