TRIO Day North 2019 Call for Workshop Proposals

IL TRIO DAY 2019 Theme: G.A.M.E. (Growth Above Marginalized Expectations) Changers.

IL TRIO Day committee is seeking G.A.M.E. Changers to submit a proposal that will add to the knowledge of student development, academic support, co-curricular support, financial management, etc to expand opportunities for low income, first generation and students with disabilities.

On February 24, 1986, a congressional resolution (H. Con. Res. 278) declared that Saturday, February 28, 1986, should be designated as “National TRIO Day” to commemorate the annual achievements of the Federal TRIO programs in communities across the country.

Yearly since then, the fourth Saturday in February has been deemed National TRIO Day – an opportunity to (re) focus the nation’s “attention on the needs of under served young people and adults aspiring to improve their lives if they are to become contributing citizens of the country, and to the talent which will be wasted if that investment is not made.”

This year, TRIO Day North will be held on February 23, 2019 at Triton College.  There will be variety of workshops, activities, a dynamic speaker, and much more! It will also offer opportunities for students at different levels in secondary and post-secondary programs to network and share ideas of life success.

TRIO Day North welcomes proposals to encourage and deepen student knowledge through engaging workshops aimed at establishing academic success and creating G.A.M.E. Changers to continue trailblazing.

The TRIO Day North committee seeks proposals for the following topics:
  • Money Management- i.e -Financial Literacy
  • G.A.M.E. Changers- i.e. Real World Skills, Entrepreneurial, Leadership
