Obfuscation and vulnerability visibility |
My name is Justin Inacio and I am conducting this survey to gather data for my Bachelor's thesis at Gothenburg University.
The purpose of the following survey is to determine the effectiveness of modern code security techniques. As obfuscation is often employed as a means to make code appear more complex, unclear or difficult to understand - it can be leveraged in a way to deter threat actors. For this reason, we want to study how effective ProGuard is in achieving this. The results of our research will help to determine how effective obfuscation is as a security measure as well as the strength of ProGuard.
Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and all responses will be kept anonymous. All data in response to this survey will be stored within Survey Monkey's servers. Processing of this data will be used to draw charts and other visual forms of data, as well as further conclusions surrounding the effectiveness of obfuscation. The duration of the survey should take 5 - 10 minutes depending on the participant's prior experience. Some questions may have more than one vulnerability shown. Please pay careful attention to the code and choose which answer you believe is most correct.
