Metro Districts Listening Session - Written Comments

If you are unable to attend our Metro Districts Listening Session on Saturday, Aug. 26, we invite you to submit your feedback through this survey. Attendees at the event will also have the opportunity to answer the questions below.

1.Please provide your feedback on metro districts in the city.(Required.)
2.Should development pay for itself? In other words, should all residents in the City have to pay for new developments, or just those who live there?
3.Would you rather pay more upfront for a home but have lower taxes, or have the home price be lower but pay more in taxes?
4.Should the City continue to allow the establishment of Metropolitan Districts for financing the construction and/or maintaining said improvements to support growth and development?
5.Some communities allow for an additional mill levy specifically for operations and maintenance of the Metro District. Should Commerce City allow Metro Districts an additional 10 mills allowed for operations and maintenance?
6.The State sets the Residential Assessment Rate for properties which changes how much revenue districts have to repay debt. Should Mill Levies be automatically adjusted up or down based on the Residential Assessment Rate?
7.Developers often invest their own dollars early into development and then reimburse themselves through the Metro District. Should Commerce City cap the amount developers can be reimbursed from the Metro District?
8.Metro district mill levies are typically capped at a certain timeframe to be paid off. Of the following options, how many years should Commerce City cap metro district debt repayment?
