2021 City of Jordan Roundabout Center Design Survey

Introduction

The intersection of Highway 282 & Creek Lane will be reconstructed with a new roundabout in 2021. The City is interested in the public’s input on the landscaping within and surrounding the roundabout. Responses to the following questions will be provided to the City Council who will provide direction to project designers in consideration of this input and the City’s budget.

* 1. What should the City’s focus be in considering the aesthetics of the Hwy 282 & Creek Lane Roundabout?

A. It is the gateway the community core and should be treated as such. The landscaping features should welcome visitors, residents, and prospective residents to enhance Jordan’s image and community pride.

B. The intersection’s primary function is to move people. Beyond its core function, landscaping and features should be added to make the intersection reasonably attractive without adding any significant cost.

C. Low cost and low ongoing maintenance should be the priority for the intersection.

* 2. For plantings installed, what should the City install?

A. Absolute minimal cost – raised grass berm

B. Low cost / most common – low/annual maintenance, drought tolerant ornamental grasses and shrubs with mulched landscape beds, generally matching what is done in most other communities at roundabouts.

C. Higher cost - Upgrade this area. Irrigated perennial flowers and shrubs and monthly maintenance plan.

D. Highest cost - Beautify this area to make a statement. Planted annuals with irrigation and weekly maintenance plan.

* 3. Some cities enhance the look of the roundabout and medians with colored concrete at select locations. In general, colored concrete is about twice the cost of traditional, white concrete. Would you like the City to incorporate colored concrete in the roundabout center or approaching medians?
