Faculty Practices Regarding Student Disclosure of Generative AI Use

My name is Steve Baule, and I am a professor at Winona State University. I am conducting a survey on how higher education faculty view the need for and address student disclosure of generative artificial intelligence (AI) use in coursework. Generative AI includes tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, Claude, and other systems that generate or substantially modify text, images, code, audio, or other content. The survey focuses specifically on whether and how faculty ask students to disclose their use of AI, rather than on whether faculty generally permit or prohibit AI.

Your participation will involve completing a brief survey; it should take only 10 to 15 minutes. Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary. If you decide not to participate or wish to stop the survey before it is complete, you can do so without consequences. The results of the survey may be published or otherwise disseminated; however, your identity will remain anonymous and no identifying information will be made known to any outside party. In this survey, there are no potential risks involved to you as a participant.
