To vote and/or serve you must reside in the Garden District as defined by the Alexandria Historic Preservation Commission.  This area is between Hynson Bayou & Bolton Avenue and between Monroe Street & Vance Avenue.

* 6. Nominations to elect a Neighborhood/ Government Liaison (please fill in your name, phone number and email):

The Community and Government Liaison will be:
1. Involved in community issues that affect neighbors
2. Facilitate communication between the levels of city government and neighbors
3. Form productive relationships with local government officials
4. Monitor proposals and actions of town/city councils, zoning boards, zoning appeals boards, and any other legislative or regulatory agencies or officials below the state level whose actions can directly or indirectly affect the Garden District.
5. Attend meetings of those bodies when possible, to become familiar with their policies, procedures and members. Assist neighbors in their dealings with local boards and agencies.
6. Actively seek opportunities to include the Garden District’s community voice in decision-making.
7. Serves as a primary contact for neighbors encountering problems like nuisance neighbors and properties to deal with local government agencies.
8. Work with the Foundation to build and/or maintain good relations between neighbors and local officials.

* 7. Nominations to elect Neighborhood Treasurer (please fill in your name, phone number and email):

The Treasurer shall:
1. Keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures.
2. Make disbursements of funds.
3. Deposit all funds in the name of the Garden District Neighborhood Foundation in financial institutions as designated by the Executive Board.
4. Present an accurate financial statement at every regular meeting of the Foundation, and at other times when requested by the President or the Executive Board.
5. Coordinate and oversee collection of funds.

The Secretary shall:
1. Keep accurate minutes of Executive Board Meetings and Public Meetings.
2. Keep a database of emails and addresses for board members and neighborhood volunteers.
3. Keep a file of all Foundation documents and other information for future reference.
4. Communicate with Board via email with reminders of upcoming meetings.

The Vice President shall:
1. Preside at all meetings of the Foundation and of the Executive Board when the President is unavailable.
2. Assist in monitoring the action of committees.
3. Act in accordance with the rules of the Garden District Neighborhood Foundation.
4. Assist in overseeing the activities of the Officers and Directors.

1. Preside at all meetings of the Foundation and of the Executive Board.
2. Appoint chairs of and monitor the action of committees.
3. Be a member ex-officio of all committees.

5. Oversee the activities of the Officers and Directors.
