2020-2021 Newmark School Year (SY) - Learning/Transportation/Device Options |
Dear Newmark Families,
As we get ready for the Fall 2020-2021 school year, we will all be adapting to a NEW normal for the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Almost overnight, we have made our school a fundamentally safe learning environment for us all, while following all CDC, Department of Health and Department of Education guidelines. Newmark has put many procedures in place to support and protect our staff and students.
As my previous communications have shared, the leadership team and our reopening committee have all been planning with urgency through the summer months to prepare for a safe return to school for students and teachers. We need you to choose which options works best for your family and your child’s needs.
Based on New Jersey Department Of Education (NJDOE) guidance, Newmark will offer two (2) options for the Reopening this fall:
OPTION 1 - Full Remote Learning at Home to include:
OPTION 1 - Full Remote Learning at Home to include:
- Students/parents opting for a fully remote program will login everyday to the instruction occurring in the classroom and will receive independent assignments as needed.
- This option is for the 1st Marking period ONLY and will be revisited at that time.
OPTION 2 - Onsite Learning to include:
- Full Days -Monday through Thursday.
- Remote Learning for All staff and students on Friday.
Students who participate in the fully remote learning option will participate in the same classes as the students in the onsite option, receiving the same instruction that is happening in the classroom. Students will be expected to have their cameras turned ON and be fully participating in classrooms lessons. Friday is being provided as a remote learning day for ALL which will allow our maintenance staff time for additional deep cleaning.
Transportation: Additionally, due to the need for masks and social distancing, busing can be a safety consideration. Districts are setting up requirements for all bus companies which will include the use of masks, cleaning of buses before and after every bus run, creating social distancing on buses as much as possible and allowing for windows to be open for ventilation. Students will be assigned seats and must follow all bus guidelines. Please indicate if your child will be using district provided transportation or parent transportation to and from Newmark (if attending Onsite).

In order to participate fully in remote instruction students MUST use a laptop or desk top computer. An iPad will NOT support what is needed for our online platform. All students MUST have their cameras turned ON during instruction in order to be engaged with the class.
