The 2026 Texas Victim Assistance Training (TVAT) Academy will be held in-person from July 21 - 24, 2026. The TVAT Academy is a free, four-day training that will take place at the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) in Austin, TX.

The TVAT Academy provides a foundational level of victim assistance training specifically for new victim services professionals, criminal justice professionals, volunteers, and allied professionals with less than three years of experience who routinely work with victims of crime. The TVAT Academy also allows students to network and learn more about community resources.

All applications are due no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2026. The TVAT Academy staff will review all applications and notify applicants of their status by Friday, April 3, 2026.

Registration and attendance are at no cost to students. Attendees will be responsible for their hotel, travel, and meal costs. All accepted students will be required to take the most current TVAT Online, published on September 15, 2025. Applicants can register for TVAT Online here: TVAT Online
