The Michigan Museums Association (MMA) is pleased to be able to offer a number of scholarships to help more of our members attend our annual conference this year.  From the Ground Up: Leadership in Museums will take place October 28-30 in Dearborn.  The conference will focus on leadership from a variety of perspectives and will include speakers, sessions, tours, and events. The conference is based at the Dearborn Inn and at museums and locations in the Dearborn area.

Member scholarships are designed for staff at small institutions that do not have a professional development budget, as well as members paying their own way.  The member scholarship is funded through MMA member donations.  Donations can be made online at michiganmuseums.org/donations.

A separate scholarship program for students will be available in mid-August.

Scholarship applications are due July 10, 2018 at 5:00pm. Scholarship recipients will be notified by July 25, 2018.

Scholarships are available to individual MMA members and those listed on the accounts for MMA institutional members. Scholarships will be awarded based on articulation of need and desire to attend, and will reflect the broadest representation of MMA membership possible. The scholarships will cover full conference registration and scholarship recipients are expected to attend the entire conference.

Scholarship recipients will be encouraged to share their experiences after the conference in a short survey and may be invited to write a short essay about their experience.

* 1. Contact Information

* 2. Select All That Apply

* 3. How many MMA conferences have you attended?

* 4. How many years of experience do you have in the museum field?

* 5. Why do you want to attend the 2018 MMA conference?
[Please be as specific as possible. For example, are there specific sessions you would like to attend? If so, why do you think they would be valuable to you or your organization? Are there certain people you are hoping to connect with? Is there a specific tour you are wanting to take? The more details you provide the better we understand the value you will get from attending the conference.]

* 6. How will a scholarship make your attendance at the conference possible?
[Please be as specific as possible without sharing too many personal details. Obviously, if you are applying for a scholarship there is a financial need. But if you are comfortable sharing why, it would be helpful. For example, do you work for an organization that only sends so many people to the conference and you didn't get one of those spots? Do you have to pay your own way?]

* 7. Is there anything else that would be helpful for us to know?

Thank you! We will notify all applicants of the results of the selection process on July 25.
