Adult Education Faculty in North America: Faculty Background, Work, and Satisfaction

4% of survey complete.
STUDY PURPOSE
The following questionnaire is part of a study of adult education faculty in North America. The primary purpose of this study is two-fold, to find out: (1) background information about adult education faculty and programs in North America; and (2) the nature of faculty work and interests, motivations and satisfaction. To a lesser extent, the questionnaire seeks to find out the extent of faculty knowledge and involvement with the Commission of Professors of Adult Education (which is part of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education).

HOW YOU WERE SELECTED
You have been selected to participate in this study from lists compiled either through the Commission of Professors of Adult Education, or from University websites that lists you as a faculty member teaching in a Graduate Program in Adult Education or related area. You are invited to complete a web-based questionnaire, which will take approximately 20 minutes of your time. By choosing to participate, you will help expand the knowledge about adult education faculty and programs in North America and of issues related to faculty work and satisfaction.

WHO IS CONDUCTING THE STUDY
The study is being conducted by: Dr. Elizabeth J. Tisdell, Professor of Adult Education, Dr. Robin Redmon Wright, Assistant Professor of Adult Education, and Dr. Edward W. Taylor, Professor of Adult Education, all of the Pennsylvania State University—Harrisburg.

CRITERIA AND SURVEY QUESTION OPTIONS
You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this research. Your decision to participate is strictly voluntary, and there are no risks to survey participants. You are free to answer all, some, or none of the questions on the questionnaire by either checking "prefer not to answer" or leaving a field blank where "prefer not to answer" is not an option. You may withdraw from participating at any time. Refusal to participate will involve no penalty to you.

OPTIONAL CONTACT INFORMATION FOR A POTENTIAL INTERVIEW
You will be given the option at the end of this online survey to indicate your willingness to participate in a follow-up phone interview to possibly offer further information about your program or your role as a faculty member. If you would be willing to participate in such an interview, you will be asked for your name, institutional affiliation, telephone number, and email address. Once the follow up interview process is complete, your name, institutional affiliation, telephone number, and email address will be removed from the dataset. Once this information is removed, it will no longer be linked with your survey responses. If this research is published, no information that would identify you will be included, since your name will not be linked to your responses.

WHO HAS ACCESS TO DATA
Only project investigators will have access to study data. Data will be stored on a secure server and on researchers' computers at Penn State University, which are accessible only by password. Your confidentiality will be kept to the degree permitted by the technology used. Although reasonable efforts are made to protect responses, no guarantees can be made regarding the interception of data sent via the Internet by any third parties. Completion of this web survey implies your consent to participate in this research. Please print a copy of the informed consent form for your records.
