Emerging Writers Fiction Workshop
Led by author Ilana Masad
June 7-11, 2021 via Zoom
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED: Tuesday, May 18th

This is a week-long emerging writers intensive where participants will generate new fiction through a series prompts, writing exercises, and in-class discussion.  Using short readings and in-class writing, participants will learn about various craft elements and practice using them in their own writing, with the goal of generating at least one complete piece of flash fiction (very short fiction of 500-1000 words) by the end of the class. Writers who would like to share their work are encouraged to sign up to the celebratory open mic event following the completion of the course.

The workshop will bring together people with varying backgrounds of experience.  Please don’t feel like you cannot apply if you have limited experience.

This workshop will be held via Zoom from June 7-11, 2021 with one-hour meetings each day Monday through Thursday and a writing session on Friday.

Although this workshop is free and open to all, this is a competitive application process and workshop participants will be expected to fully engage in all workshop sessions and attend the Open Mic event on June 14, 2021.  Participants are also expected to devote writing time each day throughout the week outside of the workshop sessions.
