SUPPORTING LGBTQIA+ IDENTIFYING CARERS AND CARERS OF LGBTQIA+ IDENTIFYING PEOPLE
Carers Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting family and friend carers and people with disability.
Anyone, anytime can become a carer. Approximately 545,000 people or 1 in 10 of the Queensland population have caring responsibilities for one or more people.
Carers Queensland recognises that the single most important contribution to the improved health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ identifying people is the recognition of, and respect for, their lives and relationships.
Carers Queensland is committed to being a genuinely LGBTQIA+ inclusive organisation. This requires the organisation to constantly review organisational practices and policies that create new, or strengthen existing barriers or foster prejudice and invest in professional development, so that our services are culturally safe and inclusive.
We know we can't do this alone. Developing and fostering a corporate culture that supports LGBTQIA+ inclusion can only be informed by the experiences and suggestions of LGBTQIA+ people.
To this end I encourage you to complete our anonymous survey. Please be assured, your answers will be treated with the strictest of confidence and securely stored and only statistical data will be used in any reports. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Walbank on swalbank@carersqld.com.au
