RICHFIELD HAPPENINGS ROAD SURVEY

In 2018, residents of the Village of Richfield approved the “Richfield Road Referendum,” which increased the tax levy by an additional $750,000 annually for a period of nine (9) years to improve and maintain the Village’s roadways. This funding doubled the Village’s annual road improvement budget to $1,500,000 and has had a meaningful impact on our infrastructure. Since 2018, the Village has been able to resurface 31 miles of roadway. While that number may sound significant, it represents only about 20% of the 150 total miles of roads that the Village is responsible for maintaining. Roads are one of the most visible and essential services the Village provides, and the referendum has allowed us to make steady progress on a challenge that affects every resident, business, and visitor who drives through Richfield.

Looking ahead, 2027 will mark the final year of the “Richfield Road Referendum.” As that date approaches, the Village Board is carefully evaluating options for how to continue maintaining our roadways in a fiscally responsible way. To guide that discussion, the Board is seeking input directly from residents on how they feel about the condition of the roads today and how best to plan for the future. Community feedback is critical in helping shape long-term strategies for maintaining safe, reliable, and well-kept infrastructure that meets the expectations of our growing community.

To gather this feedback, a short resident survey has been created. The QR code below can be scanned with a smartphone camera, which will take you directly to the survey. The survey should take only a couple of minutes to complete, and we ask that residents only participate once to ensure accurate results. The survey will remain open until October 31, 2025, giving everyone plenty of time to share their thoughts and be part of the decision-making process. Your input will play an important role in determining how we continue investing in and caring for the Village’s roadways for years to come.
