Your Input is Important!

Wichita County and the communities of Burkburnett, Cashion, Electra, Iowa Park, and Pleasant Valley have joined together to prepare a countywide Mitigation Action Plan. The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA 2000) requires that all communities adopt an approved Mitigation Action Plan.  The Wichita County Plan was initially adopted in 2006.  A revision of the plan is required every 5 years.  The proposed revised Wichita County Mitigation Plan will fulfill the requirements of the DMA 2000 and meet the eligibility requirements for funding under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

Wichita County and some individual communities participate in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  The purpose of the NFIP is to identify and mitigate the impact of floods and natural disasters including the regulation of development within special flood hazards areas, which in turn, allows citizens within each community to purchase flood insurance at an affordable rate.

Please take a few minutes to identify your hazard concerns using this Questionnaire and return it to the Wichita County Emergency Manager by 31 December 2016.  Surveys are also available on the Wichita County web site at www.co.wichita.tx.us. The Wichita County Emergency Management Office will review the completed questionnaires and your recommendations will be incorporated into the Wichita County Mitigation Plan scheduled for completion in October 2017.
