Senior Events Operations Manager Marijuana Business Daily (MJBizDaily), since 2011 the best-known producer of B2B news and trade shows serving executives and major investors in America's $8 billion cannabis industry, is seeking an Events Operations Manager for our line of business conferences. Day to day job description: You will be responsible for managing operations around our three annual conferences. In addition, you’ll manage logistics for smaller one-day, regional workshops. You must be comfortable with the idea of cannabis-business related topics, our events are B2B, no consumers, hobbyists or enthusiasts are invited. We are not specifically looking for someone with experience in the industry, but rather someone with relevant experience for the role itself.Your key responsibilities includeEvent Operations: Maintaining ongoing communications with vendors, including clearly defined requirements/specifications (Facilities, Service Contractors, AV, Food & Beverage etc.). Manage all logistics for shows including: diagrams for on-site vendors, floor plan coordination with internal sales team, managing hotel vendor, estimating or submitting food and beverage orders, preparation of show-related shipments etc. Manage hotel room block contracts, credits and monitoring weekly pick-up reports. Manage ancillary vendor contracts and services on-site (security, cleaning, shuttles, first aid etc.) Determining staff plans, housing and managing travel logistics. Develop Exhibitor Services Manual and coordinate communication thereof. On-site execution including Expo Hall setup, conference areas, F&B areas, Registration and on-site floor management. Manage post-show report debriefs. Team/Departmental Management: Managing at least two Event Coordinators, including annual reviews and day-to-day mentorship. Maintain regular reporting and keep leadership up to date on progress and road blocks. Manage expenses and proper documentation. Provide expense information on all appropriate expense items. Assist with new vendor setup, submitting invoices and purchasing card receipts for payment in a timely manner. Strategy & Development: Participating in idea generation for activities and features at the events with other internal teams. Focusing on how something can be accomplished and not what the hurdles are. Venue research and relationship management from RFP through event execution. Required background: At least 5-7 years of experience planning and executing B2B events. Demonstrable experience with project management and contracts. Required skills: Organization is key as well as your ability to collaborate with other internal departments to realize each event's vision.Willingness to travel multiple times a year.
