"The City Without Jews" (1924)
Cine-concert:
a silent film with live music

Date: Wednesday, November 15th
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Emory Performing Arts Studio,
1804 N Decatur Rd, Atlanta, GA 30322

Next year will mark the 100th anniversary of THE CITY WITHOUT JEWS, H.K. Breslauer’s long-neglected silent film set in the fictional Austrian city of Utopia. When the town’s government passes a law excommunicating all Jews its residents are flabbergasted - an uncanny foreshadowing of events to come in Europe. This viewing will feature live original music composed and performed by world-renowned klezmer violinist Alicia Svigals and celebrated silent film pianist Donald Sosin.

Co-sponsored by: Emory University's Tam Institute for Jewish Studies,
Department of German Studies, and the Sunrise Foundation
