Reasearch Priorities for Canadians Impacted by Myeloma

Introduction

We need your input!
WHAT & WHO?
Myeloma Canada’s Patient Advisory Council is seeking to better understand if and/or how research priorities for Canadians affected by multiple myeloma may have changed over the past 5 years; aiming to ensure that Canadian myeloma research pursues the answers that matter most to patients and families.

HOW?
In this short survey, you’ll first be asked a few questions about yourself to help us understand whose experiences are represented in our data. Then, you’ll be presented the Top Ten Priorities for Multiple Myeloma Research in Canada (2021), and asked to provide your opinion on each one's importance.

If you have any questions, please write to contact@myeloma.ca and indicate “Research priorities survey” in the subject line.
Please complete the survey by October 28, 2026, 11:59 PM EST.

WHY?
The current Top Ten Priorities were developed in 2021, by the Canadian Myeloma Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) in collaboration with Canadian myeloma patients, caregivers, and clinicians, and published in the British Journal of Haematology. These priorities help guide researchers across the country to engage with the questions most important to those personally impacted by myeloma, and help Myeloma Canada decide what research projects to fund.

Under our Aurelia Research Grant Funding Strategy, Myeloma Canada’s Independent Research Review Committee (composed of experts and Canadians personally affected by myeloma), selects which research projects to fund based on their scientific strength, originality, feasibility, projected impact, if they meaningfully include patients, and how well they address the Top-10 research priorities.
This process ensures that all research we fund addresses at least one of the Top-10 priorities, and thus is focused on what matters to our community.

To see which priority-guided projects Myeloma Canada has recently chosen to fund, take a look at our past Research Impact Reports. (2025,2024, 2023).

Thank you in advance for your participation!
