This survey seeks to gather important information about traditional Métis land use within forestry management units. While forest management takes place throughout the province, the focus of this survey is on the Eastern Slopes, due to its critical significance as fish habitat. Understanding traditional land use in this area is essential for ensuring that Métis perspectives are effectively integrated into forestry applications and offsetting plans. This information will support efforts to protect section 35 rights of our Métis citizens and protect vital fish habitats.
Participation in this survey is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. Otipemisiwak Métis Government staff will review and analyze any information that you provide in this survey, and the information will be used to support the activities of the Consultation Department. The information provided may be shared externally, however, confidentiality will be maintained. We greatly appreciate your time and contributions in ensuring that Métis perspectives are included in forestry management decisions.
