Purpose
Environmental genomics (EG), which includes both environmental DNA (eDNA) and bulk DNA (e.g., all or parts of organisms, such as microbes or invertebrates), has shown potential for improving environmental monitoring. InnoTech Alberta (InnoTech) is interested in better understanding current awareness and use of eDNA for environmental monitoring in Alberta, and whether and for what purposes its use could be expanded in the future. The objective of this survey is to provide guidance on strategic allocation of resources and efforts to best support environmental monitoring and management needs in Alberta.
Follow-up Discussions
The survey is designed to be completed quickly (10 – 15 minutes) and to provide an overview of participants’ views on value and use of eDNA for environmental monitoring. Additionally, InnoTech would like to meet with up to 20 respondents from a range of user groups to gather more detailed information about your interests and experiences. Anonymity
No personal information is shared in this survey, and all responses and comments will remain anonymous. InnoTech may aggregate responses based on organization type or other categories, but information about individuals or their responses will not be released.
Survey Design
The survey requires answers to all 22 questions. Each question has answers you can select from to reduce the time you spend, or requires a simple rating. Some questions allow for an “Other” response if the provided options do not fit your experience.
