Restorative Justice in Schools Convening - March 22, 2019 |
Building A Restorative Justice Movement!
What is Restorative Justice?
Restorative Justice in schools uses the tool of dialogue in circles to build community, prevent conflict and respond to disciplinary incidents. Restorative Justice in schools is rooted in a culture shift away from zero-tolerance policies and disproportionately punitive disciplinary models.
Convening Summary:
We know that Restorative Justice doesn’t just live with one person, one classroom or one school. It calls on us to build a movement in which Restorative Justice ideas and practices can be felt across all communities. Through our work with you and our school partners, we have heard a collective need to know, “What are other schools doing when challenges arise in the implementation of RJ?” Our answer to this call is to create a space for all of our school partners and allies to come together and share concerns, successes and skills to help you in your RJ implementation.
