Komen is the world’s leading nonprofit breast cancer organization, working to save lives and end breast cancer forever. Komen has an unmatched, comprehensive 360-degree approach to fighting this disease across all fronts. We advocate for patients, drive research breakthroughs, improve access to high-quality care, offer direct patient support and empower people with trustworthy information.
The data is clear, Black women are more often diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer than their white counterparts and are more than 40% more likely to die of the disease. Through the Speak Truth to Power: Stand Up, Speak Up Training, Komen's Center for Public Policy will convene health advocates and community leaders to learn about the role of state-based public policy and advocacy in reducing breast cancer disparities in the black community and the importance of engaging in these efforts in California.
