Thank you for designating your District Coordinator(s) for WIDA eLearning Accounts (aka District Learning Coordinator or DLC) by September 14, 2018.

MDE is partnering with WIDA to offer four on-demand, self-paced eLearning sessions at no charge to K-12 educators and administrators in Minnesota. Professional learning communities and individuals can use these sessions to take specific actions to improve educational outcomes and opportunities for multilingual learners. The following sessions will be available on September 1, 2018 by login at https://wida.wisc.edu/:
  • English Learner Foundational Concepts
  • Doing and Talking STEM
  • Using the WIDA Writing Rubric
  • Leading for Equity: Classroom Walkthroughs
Action requested:
We are asking districts and charter schools to designate one or more District Coordinators for WIDA eLearning Accounts (District Learning Coordinator). The District Coordinator for WIDA eLearning Accounts will be given permissions to assign and manage educator login accounts so they can use a WIDA username and password to access eWorkshops available at the WIDA eLearning Center/WIDA Secure Portal. MDE staff will work with WIDA to grant permissions to your designated district learning coordinator for eWorkshops. We will also post this information at the mde.org site.

Which staff member(s) should be the District Coordinator for WIDA eLearning Accounts?

1. Individuals who can work with principals and district staff to create a list of all staff who should have a WIDA username and password allowing access to the WIDA eLearning workshops. This individual will submit the list of staff e-mails to WIDA Client Services for bulk upload:  help@wida.us

2. Individuals will go into the WIDA secure portal to update the current WIDA accounts of staff to add access to the WIDA eLearning workshops (or those staff members can also be included in the bulk file upload).

3. Individuals who will go into the WIDA secure portal to individually grant access to new staff or as requests come in from staff who were not included in a bulk file upload.

Who should have access to WIDA eLearning Workshops?
-We recommend that any staff member in regular contact with students complete one or more of these eLearning workshops.
-Anyone with a Minnesota school e-mail address can be approved to access the eLearning workshops.
-Staff who want to learn more about how they can build on the strengths of English learners.
-Any K-12 district or charter school employee who wants to learn about ways to improve educational outcomes and opportunities for English learners and multilingual learners.
-While these sessions can be completed anytime and anywhere, staff will benefit from discussing the content with colleagues in a professional learning community.

Please use the form below to submit the name(s) of your District Coordinator(s) for WIDA eLearning Accounts by September 14.
