IRB Consent Agreement

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important.

You are being asked to take part in a research study of how social media and the internet has affected Brony fandom interaction habits. We are asking you to take part because you have been observed participating in fan activities in the Brony Community. Please read this form carefully and ask any questions you may have before agreeing to take part in the study.

What the study is about:

The purpose of this study is to learn how member of the Brony community interact online and off. You must be a member of the Brony community to take part in this study.

What we will ask you to do:

If you agree to be in this study, we will provide you with a survey. This survey will involve questions about your involvement in the Brony community, your entrance into the fandom, and some of your viewing and interaction habits with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and the Brony Community. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Risks and benefits:

We do not anticipate any risks to you participating in this study other than those encountered in day-to-day life. There are no foreseeable benefits to you other than those encountered in day-to-day life.

Compensation:

Participants will not be compensated for their involvement in this study.

Your answers will be confidential.

The records of this study will be kept private. In any sort of report we make public we will not include any information that will make it possible to identify you. Research records will be kept in a locked file; only the researchers will have access to the records. 

Taking part is voluntary:

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary. If you decide to take part, you are free to withdraw at any time.
