HOLY LOCH NATURE RESERVE
A community loved natural asset

Argyll & Bute Council (A&BC) lease the reserve land to Sandbank Community Development Trust (SCDT), who are also responsible for managing it. A&BC also own the adjacent roads yard which is now surplus to their requirements and they wish to dispose of it. A&BC have also told SCDT that they are willing to sell the former roads yard and the reserve land to SCDT. As the ecosystem on the reserve is very precious and the timescale on which it exists and can be managed extends over many decades (think in terms of the lifespan of a tree), SCDT believe that taking ownership is the best way to ensure the reserve is protected from potential sale to, or development by, other parties.
