CALL TO ACTION

Dear Community Organization,

The Spalding County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is an umbrella organization of existing agencies. Each member organization maintains its own identity and independence yet works closely with other agencies to improve services and eliminate unnecessary duplication.  We promote coordination among member organizations to facilitate access to available resources and services.

If your organization is interested to be part of the Spalding County VOAD, please agree to the Memorandum of Understanding below and complete the following survey of Membership Resources.  Submission of the survey shall constitute a formal electronic signature indicating authorization on behalf of your organization.

We will follow volunteer integration protocols to screen and prepare volunteers for assignments prior to deployment.  As of March 23, Warren East of City Church and Regina Abbott of Spalding Collaborative will co-chair the SC VOAD.

If you would rather respond as an individual volunteer or in addition to the organization survey, you may submit your information through the United Way website at https://.www.gsunitedway.org/volunteer.

Thank you for helping us to leverage resources to strategically meet community needs as we battle this pandemic together.  Without an end in sight, we are preparing to be ready to go with "all hands on deck".

Glenn Polk, MPA, CFO, MIFireE, EMT-I, GA-ACEM
Deputy Chief – Administration, Spalding County Fire Department
Director, Spalding County Office of Homeland Security

Question Title

* 1. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
This memorandum of understanding contains the key guidelines to assuring members conform with decisions that are ethical and in accordance to known legal requirements.

My organization (named below) is committed to the highest ethical standard and realizes our success depends on the ethical conduct of everyone affiliated with Spalding County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (SC VOAD).

SC VOAD is not designed for operation management, and the SC VOAD itself is not a service delivery organization. SC VOAD member organizations, agencies, and businesses may provide services during a disaster and do so under their own direction.

We are not intended to be a competing agency, but an umbrella organization of existing agencies. Each member organization maintains its own identity and independence yet works closely with other agencies to improve services and eliminate unnecessary duplication.

We promote coordination among member organizations to facilitate access to available resources and services.

We are committed to the idea that the best time to prepare, train, and become acquainted with one another is prior to an actual event.

We prepare volunteer organizations and volunteers for entry into the community response and recovery plan using volunteer integration protocol prior to assigned deployment.

We agree to communicate honestly and openly and avoid misrepresentation while exhibiting respect and fairness toward all with whom we come in contact. We promote a working environment where honesty, open communications and minority opinions are valued.

We will value, champion, and embrace diversity in all aspects of our activities, respecting others without regard to race, religion, color, sex, age, handicap, national origin or ancestry.

We will ensure that all confidential, privileged, or nonpublic information is not inappropriately disclosed.
