COMPASS is seeking comment on:

  • A proposed amendment to the regional long-range transportation plan, Communities in Motion 2050. This plan forecasts how the region is expected to grow, anticipates the transportation needs to accommodate that growth, then prioritizes projects to meet those needs.
  • A transportation budget, called the regional transportation improvement program (TIP), that shows how federal transportation dollars will be spent over the next seven years in Ada and Canyon Counties (fiscal years 2027 – 2033).
More information and copies of draft documents can be found online at https://compassidaho.org/comments-and-questions/.

Want to ask questions or speak to a planner before you comment? Email info@compassidaho.org, call 208/855-2558, or join us for an ice cream social open house on July 7.

All comments must be submitted in writing by 11:59 pm, Friday, July 31.

1.Comment on a proposed amendment to the regional long-range transportation plan, Communities in Motion 2050, to make changes to the list of funded projects.

The proposed changes would add a project to construct new sidewalks, pathways, and pedestrian improvements in Garden City and remove a project to widen Ustick Road between Franklin Boulevard and 11th Avenue in Nampa and unincorporated Canyon County, as funding for the Ustick Road project is no longer anticipated in the near term.
2.Comments on projects in the draft FY2027-2033 Regional Transportation Improvement Program (TIP): (The TIP is available in a detailed format and a basic format; both contain the same projects, but with different levels of detail)

A small sample of projects planned for 2027 include:
  • Widening State Highway 44 from Star Road to State Highway 16 in Ada County (funded in FY2026; construction in FY2027)
  • Constructing a sidewalk and improving pedestrian crossings between Syringa Middle School and Spruce Street along Montana Avenue in the City of Caldwell.
  • Rehabilitating the transit station at the Boise Towne Square Mall to include a larger, covered passenger waiting area, additional bus bays, restrooms, real-time passenger information, and more.
  • Widening and improving a railroad crossing at North Black Cat Road in the City of Meridian.
  • Multiple projects to maintain roadways throughout Ada and Canyon Counties.
