Listing and annotation: Sulfur dioxide—for use only in wine labeled “made with organic grapes,” Provided, That, total sulfite concentration does not exceed 100 ppm

Use: As a synthetic non-agricultural product allowed as an ingredient/processing aid in or on products labeled "organic" or "made with (specified organic ingredients/food groups)".

Common applications: Sulfur dioxide products are used to prevent spoilage and oxidation in wine. In the winemaking industry, sulfur dioxide is commonly referred to more generally as ‘sulfite.'
