Dear GEM Scholarship Applicant.

NOTE: 2021-22 GEM Scholarships are intended only for Mentees currently enrolled in the 2021-22 Mentorship Program. If you are not a current Mentee, your application will not be considered.

GEM offers annual scholarships to Mentees who have demonstrated exceptional initiative while participating in the GEM Mentorship Program. GEM Scholarships are designed to empower Mentees in pursuit of their goals beyond GEM, whether academic or professional. All Scholarships will be awarded by the end of the 2021-22 Mentorship Program year (May/June 2022).

This year, we are awarding 50 Scholarships! Total value of all scholarships is an outstanding $130,000.00!

Scholarships include:
5 Scholarships of $5000 each funded by Employment and Social Development Canada
1 Scholarship of $5000 donated by the Pottruff Foundation
1 STEM Scholarship of $3500 donated by Partum Consulting
15 Scholarships of $2500 each funded by the Slaight Family Foundation
22 Scholarships of $2500 each funded by Employment and Social Development Canada
1 Scholarship of $1000 donated by Jeannette Wiltse
2 Scholarships of $1000 each donated by Dream Unlimited


Applicants will be scored by a committee of GEM Community members including GEM Team staff, Board members, donors, and volunteers. Each applicant will be scored on:

1. The quality and substance of their written application.
2. Their participation as a GEM Mentee (e.g. attendance/engagement at mandatory/voluntary GEM events, maintenance of relationship with Mentor, communication with GEM Team, demonstration of commitment to GEM community, etc.).
3. Their reference's written submission (NOTE: Reference must fill out THIS FORM by deadline of April 3rd, 2022 at 11:59pm).
