Description

Dear Superintendents,
The State Board of Education created the Interagency Advisory Committee (IAC) to identify and review the challenges of at-risk school-aged population such as poverty, safety, health, and other non-academic barriers. The IAC will make recommendations to the State Board of Education, other state agencies, and education stakeholder groups as to how to best facilitate access for all public school children to receive the opportunity for a sound basic education. Before convening the IAC, the SBE would like to create an inventory of wraparound services provided to students in all local school districts and the types of partnerships local school districts have with local government agencies and community organizations.

Types of wraparound services include, but are not limited to:
  • Health and medical care (Ex. hearing/visual, annual check-ups)
  • Mental health care (Ex. counseling, emotional/behavior support)
  • Dental care (Ex. annual check-ups, dental programs)
  • Early childhood learning (Ex. preschool and early childhood programs)
  • Academic achievement (Ex. tutoring, after school programs)
  • Mentoring (Ex. one-on-one mentoring programs, group mentoring)
  • Family support (Ex. homeless families, incarcerated parents)
  • Post-secondary education and career awareness (Ex. college prep and career readiness programs)
  • Juvenile justice (Ex. gang prevention, criminal diversion programs)

Please take a few minutes to complete this six question survey developed to gather information about the non-academic support services offered in your district.
