What Do You Want to Talk About?
Is there a museum topic that you are passionate about but feel is absent from the field?
Are you looking for feedback about a new project?
Do you want to share with others a technique or approach that you are piloting?
If so, you can start the conversation at a Conversation Station.
Conversation Stations are similar to poster sessions at more formal or academic conferences, but with a broader application. You can propose an idea or ask questions about any topic you think the field might be interested in. Conference attendees can visit one or multiple stations to have informal chats with you – the station facilitator - and other attendees. Example topics from past conferences include The Work We All Must Do: Diversity & Your Museum; Storytime—from Program to Community Collaborations; and When Entry Level Isn’t.
MMA will select topics/projects for up to 10 stations that will take place on Wednesday morning, October 15th. Each station will be given a table and two chairs. We strongly recommend that all stations use visual or tactile materials to help stimulate conversation (e.g. poster, brochures, video, etc.). Facilitators are expected to register for the conference and station facilitators may only facilitate one conversation station.
Proposals are due by September 2nd. Notifications will be made by September 16th.
