On Febuary 7th 2018,  The inaugural Vibrant Community Roundtable event. The Vibrant Community Roundtable project brings together various community leaders, civic representatives, individuals from the business, non-profit and interfaith sectors from Akwesasne, Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. The purpose is to engage in discussion to address complex societal issues like poverty and community livability. The ultimate goal is to build a healthier and more vibrant community  by working together.

The first meeting ended with a practical workshop where participants identified key ares of focus and answer the questions: 
 
  • What do we need to consider when buidling a Vibrant Community?
 
and 
 
  • What are our next step?
 
The feedback from those questions have subdivided into categories: Systemic, Identified Populations, and Community.

Identified Population,  refers to priority populations that to focus on:
  • Differently abled 
  • Seniors 
  • Francophones
  • Indigenous
  • People Living in Poverty
  • Children Under 4
  • High School Graduates
  • Women
  • LGBTQ+
  • Mental Health
  • Diverse Cultures/Racialized Groups
  • General Population 

Community refers to building and deepening the sense of  contentedness and social cohesiveness  in our region. 

The following survey is help us dig deeper into the these questions. 

Systemic refers to the collective agenda or path to move this project forward. We will focus on this aspect at the May 29th 2018 meeting.
