Stormwater Resource Plan (SWRP)

Project proponents within the San Luis Obispo County watersheds are welcome to submit project information to be included in the region-wide Stormwater Resource Plan (SWRP) development.
 
The State of California now requires a watershed-based SWRP as a condition of receiving grant funds from a bond approved after January 2014 for storm water and dry weather runoff capture projects (Water Code section 10563). The State Water Board established guidelines on developing a SWRP:
Project proponents are invited to submit project information to be included in the SWRP. Further detailed information on the submitted projects will be requested from the project proponents.

The SWRP requires that projects will be quantitatively prioritized using a metrics-based and integrated evaluation and analysis of multiple benefits to maximize the following benefits within the watershed [Water Code §10562(b)(2)]:
  • Water Quality while contributing to compliance with applicable permit and/or TMDL requirements
  • Water Supply through groundwater management and/or runoff capture and use, including “on-farm” flood flow capture and recharge projects located on suitable agricultural lands
  • Flood Management
  • Environmental
  • Community
