The purpose of this study is to better understand how dog owners make treatment decisions following their dog's first episode of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), what information influenced those decisions, and how owners perceived their dog's recovery and their own experience throughout the process.

If you choose to participate, you will complete an anonymous online survey about your dog's first IVDD episode only. The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Your participation is voluntary. You may skip any question you do not wish to answer or stop the survey at any time.

There is no compensation for participating in this study.

There are no anticipated risks beyond those encountered in everyday life. While there is no direct benefit to you, your responses may help improve understanding of owner treatment decision-making and inform future veterinary communication and care for dogs with IVDD.

This survey is anonymous. No personally identifying information will be collected, and your responses cannot be linked back to you. Study data will be stored securely, analyzed in aggregate, and retained according to SUNY Empire State University research policies before being securely destroyed.

This study is conducted online, and only individuals 18 years of age or older may participate.

By selecting "I agree" below, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have read this information, and voluntarily consent to participate in this study.
