Using a variety of methods, CLV regularly seeks input from staff about their satisfaction and the agency's priorities.  This year we will be focusing on some of the key goals in our Strategic Plan 2017-2020  as a way to update  you on progress made and get feedback on your satisfaction with these goals .

We have provided a summary of key goals and efforts made to address the goals.  CLV's strategic planning goals fall under 3 main areas: Innovation, Service Excellence and Sustainability.  Please read the updates, check off your level of agreement with our efforts made to address these goals, and add any comments about that specific goal.

* 4. Innovation Goal:  Increase affordable housing options
  • we have secured 6 new units of housing for people we support in independent living by partnering with Capital Regional Housing
  • we completed the building of a new accessible home on Wascana St. in partnership with BCHousing and CLBC
  • we support approximately 5 additional people each year in our independent living programs to obtain secure housing
  • we are exploring small scale mixed-use housing on our CLV main site in partnership with M'akola Development Services.
CLV has made a good effort to increase affordable housing options:

* 5. Innovation Goal:  Improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities.
  • we have continued to contribute to the costs of providing 2 full-time positions in Employment Services
  • we have advocated for and received increased CLBC funding for Employment Services
  •  we have supported additional people through a partnership with WorkBC
  • we have offered workshops to youth to promote employment
  • we are involved in provincial and local committees to promote youth and adult employment for people who have a disability
  • we continue to support 50 people per year in their paid employment positions.

* 6. Service Excellence Goal:  End of Life practices are in place for the people we support in our homes
  • we have developed effective and compassionate practices and policies in this area
  • we have added a tab in ShareVision to document important end of life plans and individual/family wishes
  • we have set goals for these important discussions to occur and be documented
  • we have met our goal of increasing the number of individuals who have Representation Agreements with their family members or support networks 
CLV has made good efforts to ensure that End of Life practises are in place for the people we support in our homes:

* 7. Service Excellence Goal:  Create an Emergency Respite option with CLBC and other service providers for people in crisis
  • we actively participated in a regional committee to develop this option
  • we have tried unsuccessfully to secure a location in this region
  • we continue to make emergency arrangements on an individual basis as required

* 8. Service Excellence Goal:  CLV has a pool of competent and diverse staff who are available to meet oganizational needs
  • we have increased our recruitment methods to get the widest pool of staff 
  • we have improved efficiencies by moving to group hires and a day long group orientation before new staff come to the on-site orientations
  • we use inclusive and welcoming language in our application process
  • we conduct orientation surveys of new staff to constantly improve our process
  • we conduct interim employee evaluations to identify further training needs of new staff sooner in the process
  • recent improved wage increases include a low wage redress which will take place from 2019-2022 for our unionized staff 
CLV has made good efforts in the ongoing recruitment and retention of new staff:

* 9. Sustainability Goal:  Enhance administration time for home/program supervisors with extensive front- line responsibilities
  • supervisors have identified areas or times when they need more support or hours
  • HR has met with all supervisors quarterly to help identify areas they may be struggling with and offer solutions/assistance
  • supervisors have requested assistance from another supervisor or manager when needed
  • some homes/programs have had their schedules revised to provide more focused admin time and separation from front line work
  • a "Stop, Start, Continue" session was conducted with supervisors/managers resulting in goals to help improve efficiency
  • forms and systems have been streamlined
  • increased use of ShareVision to decrease paperwork.

CLV has made good efforts to enhance administrative time for supervisors who have extensive front line responsibilities:

* 10. Sustainability Goal:  Implement CLV's real estate strategy to meet our growing needs
  • completed extensive renovations to our Burnside home and moved individuals back into the home 
  • completed the move of individuals from McRae home into the accessible Wascana home 
  • completed renovations to the Heritage building to provide 2 more office spaces
  • purchased and started renovations to the Comerford building to replace the Satellite Community Inclusion site with a larger, more accessible location
  • will be moving our offices from the WestShore leased space to Comerford.
